Every now and then we peel back the covers on the Lowe’s Iris ecosystem to see what hidden treasures hide within. While we often focus on on the mobile app, today we took a deep dive into the underlying code behind the Iris website and did not come up empty-handed.
During our code-splunking we turned up a hidden widget called the ApplianceWidget. This cute little widget attaches itself to a single SmartPlug displaying the usual assortment of control, current power usage, estimated cost, and cost prediction. While this widget does not add any new functionality it does offer the convenience of being able to add a single device to the Iris dashboard. It’s too bad that Lowe’s has not chosen to enable this feature at this time.
